“This has been a difficult and disappointing round of negotiations,” said Barry Nowoselsky, chair of the bargaining unit. A memorandum of understanding between the provincial government and the SGEU has been signed by both parties, the province says. “We are delighted that a majority of members voted in favour of adopting this interim agreement,” said Lori Bossaer, current Chair of the DAU Negotiating Committee. The union said representatives from the bargaining committee and the government would now try to “conclude and sign” the collective agreement. The agreement expires on 30 September 2022. This agreement includes about 11,000 SGEU members who work as motorway transport agents and equipment operators, proofreaders, parking staff, nature conservation officers, social workers and many other sectors of the public sector.
